Frequently Asked Questions
We're building ArtSit with transparency in mind. Here are answers to questions families and providers commonly ask.
Questions for Parents
What is an ArtSitter?
An ArtSitter is an independent creative childcare provider who may offer in-home, screen-light creative care through the ArtSit platform.
ArtSitters may bring simple, age-appropriate activities into the home, such as art, STEM, music, movement, storytelling, nature-inspired play, or calm creative projects.
ArtSitters are independent providers, not employees of ArtSit.
What is ArtSit?
ArtSit is a creative childcare matching and scheduling service. We connect families with independent ArtSitters who bring creative, age-appropriate activities into your home. From art and STEM to music, movement, storytelling, and nature play, ArtSitters deliver engaging, enriching care that supports your child's creativity and development.
How is ArtSit different from traditional childcare or babysitting?
ArtSit focuses specifically on creative, enriching care. Rather than general supervision, our providers bring structured creative activities designed to spark imagination, learning, and joy. We also handle the logistical work most babysitting arrangements don't: matching, screening, scheduling, secure payments, documentation, and ongoing communication support.
Additionally, ArtSit is not a daycare or preschool. Sessions are flexible and designed to fit your family's schedule, and all sessions must be booked and paid through ArtSit to ensure clear expectations, fair compensation, and accountability.
Who are ArtSit providers?
ArtSit providers are independent ArtSitters who are passionate about creative childcare. They may be artists, teachers, musicians, or educators who work independently and choose which opportunities to accept. They are not ArtSit employees; they are independent providers using our platform to connect with families.
How does the matching process work?
When you join ArtSit, you'll share information about your family: your children's ages, interests, and what kinds of creative activities you'd like them to experience. You'll also let us know about your scheduling needs and any preferences (like distance, availability, or specific expertise). ArtSit then matches you with providers whose skills and availability align with your family's needs. We facilitate introductions and help coordinate the first session.
What types of creative activities are offered?
Activities include art and drawing, STEM and science experiments, music and movement, storytelling and drama, nature-inspired play, and calm creative moments. Each provider brings their own style and expertise, so you can find someone whose creative approach matches your family's interests. You can also discuss specific activity preferences when booking.
What does "screen-light" mean?
Screen-light means ArtSit encourages creative, hands-on activities instead of defaulting to phones, tablets, TV, or video games.
ArtSitters may use activities like art, STEM, music, movement, storytelling, pretend play, simple crafts, nature-inspired play, or calm creative moments to keep children engaged.
It does not mean screens can never be used. Families can share their own screen rules, routines, or approved media before a session.
The goal is creative care that feels more present, playful, and engaging.
How does payment work?
You pay ArtSit for each session. ArtSit then compensates the independent ArtSitter after the session is completed. This ensures clear payment records, transparent pricing, and fair compensation for ArtSitters. All sessions introduced through ArtSit must be booked and paid through ArtSit to maintain this structure.
How does ArtSit handle safety and screening?
We're building ArtSit to reduce risk through structure, screening, documentation, payment records, safety expectations, and feedback. Our screening process may include background checks, reference verification, and safety documentation to ensure quality matches between families and providers.
It's important to note: while ArtSit creates multiple layers of protection, no platform can guarantee safety. We focus on reducing risk through thoughtful processes and clear accountability.
Can I give feedback after a session?
Yes. After each session, both families and ArtSitters have the opportunity to provide feedback. This helps us match families and ArtSitters more effectively in the future, supports ArtSitters in improving their practice, and gives families a voice in the ArtSit community.
What if a session doesn't work out?
Providers can decline opportunities that don't fit their schedule or expertise. Families can also request a different match if needed. We encourage open communication and work to ensure both families and providers feel supported. ArtSit handles the administrative side so you can focus on finding the right fit.
Is ArtSit available in my area?
ArtSit is currently in early pilot phase. We're building the platform with real families and providers in select areas. Join our waitlist to get early updates and be notified when we launch in your region.

What should I include in my ArtSitter profile?
Your profile should highlight your creative background, areas of expertise (art, STEM, music, storytelling, etc.), teaching or facilitation style, and what you love about working with children. Be specific about the age groups you work with and the types of activities you're most passionate about. A clear, authentic profile helps families find the right match.

How are sessions evaluated?
